Herbal Help For Winter Ailments
Before the cold weather arrives it’s a good idea to take a course of Bio-Health Ekinalife, Vitamin C and Zinc to help boost your immune system. In this way you will be protecting yourself from the large number of ailments that seem to take advantage of us at this time of year.
COLDS AND FLU:
Bio-Health Ekinalife® and Vitamin C may help reduce the severity and duration of your symptoms. At the first sign of the sniffles make a tea with equal parts of yarrow, peppermint and elderflowers. Add a dash of Tabasco or a little grated ginger root to stimulate the circulation. Alternatively you could try Bio-Health Ginger or Capsicum. Drink lots of fluids and, during convalescence, try to eat food that is in as natural a state as possible to avoid overburdening your digestive system.
Bio-Health Ekinalife® or Whole Garlic can help tackle any underlying infection. Steam inhalations may bring relief too – add a few drops of Eucalyptus essential oil to a bowl of boiling water; lean over it with a towel over your head, and inhale the steam for 5 – 10 minutes.
These are caused by the herpes virus which lies dormant in your body until it is able to take advantage of a depressed immune system, erupting when you are already feeling under-the-weather. Dab them with an anti-viral tincture such as Melissa or St.John’s Wort, and take a course of Bio-Health Melissa or Hyperidrine® to help prevent recurrence.
CHILBLAINS AND RAYNAUD’S SYNDROME (cold, white fingers):
Boost the circulation to your hands and feet with Bio-Health Ginkgo, Ginger or Capsicum. Keep your hands and feet dry and warm at all times. Woollen or cotton socks are preferable to nylon socks or tights.
Repair the damage with Bio-Health Comfrey Ointment. If the cracks are infected, use Marigold Ointment first – comfrey heals the skin so rapidly that it can seal in infection causing problems later. Apply the ointment generously before bed, and wear a pair of old socks overnight.
Hyperidrine® is of value in the treatment of low mood and anxiety, often brought on by the short days of winter. Vitamin D with Calcium will help replace the beneficial effects of sunshine at this time.
Too much rich food and alcohol can put additional pressure on your liver. Help protect it with Bio-Health Silamarie®, and make sure you drink plenty of water. Gout sufferers may benefit from Celery seed.
