Making Long Sutton Beautiful

Yvonne James, our telesales manager, has been working hard to make Long Sutton in Lincolnshire where she lives a contender for “Best Village in Bloom” 2017.

Britain in Bloom is a nationwide gardening competition organised by the Royal Horticultural Society. It is also one of Europe’s largest horticultural campaigns. Every year, more than 3,000 groups participate to help improve their local villages, towns and cities. Groups report a wide range of benefits such as cleaner, greener and safer surroundings, a growing sense of community pride, and increased commercial enterprise and tourism.

Long Sutton is a small but attractive market town situated in South Holland in the south eastern fringes of Lincolnshire.

The existence of a settlement can be traced back to Norman times and possibly to the 9th century, the Friday Market dates back to the early 13th Century, when the town was a prosperous trading centre. By the 14th Century Long Sutton was said to be one of the richest communities in Lincolnshire. Visit Wikipedia to find out more.

Yvonne has also set up a support hub for people affected by cancer in Long Sutton, Lincolnshire. Read the story here.
