New Product Runo Turmeric+
Turmeric (Curcuma longa), a native of South Asia, is a member of the Ginger family. Its yellow-orange rhizome has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for over two thousand years to treat inflamed joints and other age-related degenerative conditions.
The active constituent in turmeric is the flavonoid curcumin. This substance has been shown to protect cellular DNA from environmental toxins thereby helping to allay inflammation and other cellular damage. Clinical trials have suggested that curcumin may have a more marked anti-inflammatory effect than hydrocortisone, and it is believed to be a more powerful antioxidant than Vitamin E.
The recommended dose of RUNO Turmeric+ is one 540mg capsule three times a day. Curcumin is fat rather than water-soluble, so is best taken with a little warm milk or yoghurt (almond milk is a lovely alternative if you are vegan or vegetarian). The addition of piperine from black pepper in this supplement further enhances the absorption of curcumin.
Turmeric is generally safe to use, except by people with gallstones or other gallbladder disorders. It should only be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding on medical advice. Some studies have suggested that Turmeric may have a very slight anticoagulant effect, so people taking anticoagulant medication (blood-thinners) should seek professional advice before taking it.
